the gelid sierra had been quiet. not a peep from catori for the longest of times and icarus was honestly sick of the silence. he could hear his thoughts echoing in his head and spewed across the gelid as if they were too loud to contain. so, the man makes his way towards where the necklaces were held. every moment had led up to this in his life. all the training that he had endured, sure, maybe it wasn't the best position that he wanted. but he was sick of sitting by as the gelid froze over in silence. there is no sound but the winds blowing back and forth, a blizzard over top the mountain. icarus' peach eyes catch on the mountain side where the ice necklaces hang over the ravine. he gives a certain nod before a summoning howl leaves those blackened lips. it is not long before it ends and the brute stands tall, "i am sick of the silence. this land has been quiet for way too long and i.. i will not stand for it." he growls, the brute's ears flattened. "i will not be alpha, it seems that those fuckers fall to easy, but i will have the same fucking rights." there is another howl for the remaining members of ice to show, teeth flashing when he is finished. for it has been too long that the sierra has suffered in silence and he will not stand for the fuckery any longer.
"speak and be heard."

ICARUS IS CLAIMING THE SUB-ALPHA POSITION & FOR EQUAL STANDING.
please respond by the 22nd if you have any objections.

Laemi Josephina Exeter- he would be in ice by this point, most likely.

He moved with not the greatest of grace in the snow, but he moved. Ex had been told this land was quiet, but the red eyes man hadn't expected it to be this quiet. He had found one wolf other than Icarus who he met at the willows, but she was just a kid. He had only met her for a few moments as well as she ran off to go do something. That was the a couple of hours ago. However, now it seemed the mountains were busy. A howl echoes though the mountain calling for them. In reply Exeter lifted his head to return one back. To allow the owner of the howl to know he was coming, he was on his way. Moving though the snow he could smell them. That girl again and the white male Icarus. Arriving just in time hear the male finish his claim. "I might be new, but I shall follow you and aid you with those rights." Exeter stated as he came into view and stood before the male. His voice has been clear as he stood stoic and at attention. His chin over his throat, stance lowered to something more balanced in the snow, and his basic defenses set still out of habit, but with someone making a claim over such a high rank he was ready to aid in any needed defense if called upon. Being so new to he pack Ex did feel he would be able to lead it, but he felt he had no right to. After all to properly lead a pack one must have had first earned the respect of those within it. Something a newcomer like himself clearly wouldn't have, but the male before him? True he didn't know him long, but he had been in a rank with some standing before. So clearly those that make ice their home had some faith with him.

Icarus. Laemi is coming now. Forgot to barge everything last night so I got to hurry though. So sorry for the rushed posts.

Laemi had been a bait girl. She had been out and about exploring Doutaini, meeting others, trying to help the pack grow, but she hadn't been doing very well. Being but a kid no one really too her seriously. That and the fact that she seemed over curious in learning things for her own good than helping ice grow in numbers was another thing. Still it wasn't like she wasn't trying to be useful. To know the locations of other things within the landscape could be just as useful. So far she had met a few friendly wolves who have all taught her something in their own way rather they meant to or not. On that day the girl had met a new male within Ice but hadn't spoken with him long as she had been focused on a mouse and he seemed to have grown restless with her and wondered off. Oh well she had thought at the time there was plenty of time to find out more about him later. Now that he was later Laemi had found the mouse after hunting it down, but the thing had slipped away from her down a small hole within the mountain she couldn't even fit her paw in let alone her head. It had been as she tried to figure out what to do that she had heard the howl of the White Prince and then that of the random male. With a smile on her lips the girl made her way towards them. Throwing her head back to return the howl and let them know she was coming. Only her howl sounded more like a dying animal than a proper howl. Good thing it had been quick as it wasn't painless and her hurt her own ears. Finally arriving she looked at both males and giggled softly. "Yo White Prince how ya doing?" She asked as she gave Exeter a nod before sitting near them.

He had come up the mountain on invitation, in search of some special birds and (if he was lucky) a chance to talk to some of his friends. He hadn't really expected to stumble right into a political turmoil. He had, in fact, thought it was going to be cold (which it was) and silent. Instead he immediately heard someone howl, frowned, and stopped at the border.
It would, normally, be safest to go home. Or at least to not wander into claimed lands willy nilly. Still, the black knight reasoned after some hesitation, someone might be in danger, and he was pretty sure it would be fine. Nobody would attack him. He was an envoy or something.
He stared up the hill, frowning uncertainly, and stepped across the imaginary line.
Once the deed was done, it was done; he sallied forth through an underfoot cover of light snow, aiming for the source of the noise. It didn't take him long to arrive on scene, where, he saw immediately, there was in fact no danger. Icarus stood around with some stranger, talking, apparently, about some kind of..
..coup?
This was, possibly, not the best time for him to arrive. It was definitely too late, though; everyone in the little gathering would have spotted him lumbering casually up the hill, and so he stopped short and smiled awkwardly.
"Hey, umm..bad timing?"
Icarus was his friend. He wouldn't mind the knight's abrupt, unsolicited arrival. Or trespass. Probably.
"I can leave," he suggested.

"Looks like you're doing a good job recruiting." He poofed into existence as he spoke; his dark grey fur no longer speckled by the white hairs of age. With his ears perked he moved to stand over by Rascal; offering Laemi and Exeter a dip of his head. "Kearnal, the local spook; welcome to the sierra." Where was Catori? He worried for her; for all of them really. Actually; perhaps he hadn't thought this whole becoming a spirit thing all the way through. Didn't becoming a spirit mean that he'd eventually watch everyone he cared for die? Perhaps that was his punishment for his failures in life. Yeah; that kinda sorta made a sort of sense to him.

This forest of emotions closes in; leaving a 'one way only' path.
I know what is down that dark trail; but there is no turning back.
One, Two, more souls drift away; only one will fill this hole. Wrath.
Pieces of me lost and broken drift away; my ribs an empty rack.

Well, well, how fortunate that Nicharion happened to be in the vicinity - this wasn't something he'd like to miss. And this would actually be his first visit to the Gelid. He found the prospect of having to get used to coming to this place now and then bittersweet - the purpose was all well and worth it, but the place itself? Not his cup of tea in the slightest. Cold, the snow was unnecessarily tiring to walk on, and with his fur he stood out like a sore thumb. He could see why Icarus was so temperamental sometimes though, if he had to freeze his ass off here all the time. Nothing to be envious about.

Still, today's event happened to be more interesting than complaining about something as unchangeable as the land, so it wasn't all horrible. Someone attempting the climb from prince to alpha wasn't all that common an occurrence, rarer still if it's a wolf you know. The red Rebel wasn't quite certain how he felt about it - while it could come in handy, taking advantage of his connections wasn't the only thing he had an interest in. No, the job comes with risk, and that was a concern. Perhaps even a worry.

Icarus wasn't exaggerating about Ice being quiet if that's everyone who was interested in his claim. A ghost, a wolf from Divine, only two locals.. quite pitiful, indeed. Still, not being the only outsider present did put him at ease. Not that he really worried about it in the first place, but it was better. For now, Nicharion figured, it'd be best not to interrupt - he allowed himself to wink at Icarus but after that he remained on the sidelines and feigned the disinterested expression of someone doing a job they didn't particularly care for. Just a scout taking note of leadership changes in another pack.

god of ice

months have passed since kearnal had held the ice festival in his honor, yet it feels like mere hours to the god. such potential, squandered to dust in a single blink of his eternal eyes. his crown tossed and bartered between pack members and ultimately left in the dirt--unwanted. kearnal had died without an heir; catori had abandoned him without a word. though a few wolves remained beneath his banner, none saw fit to take his throne. even icarus sought the glory of power without the burden of the crown.

and it's that, that ungrateful display of ambition, which forces his hand. cold fury overtakes him. the sierra bends to the will of its maker's rage: a howling wind sweeps the mountain range, bringing the full force of winter to bear on its peaks. the drop in temperature will be palpable throughout the realm, and beneath the rush of the northern winds rumbles a warning--at first, scarcely audible, but it crescendos to overtake the wind itself as an avalanche bursts down the mountain slope. a wall of white overwhelms the horizon, from the cloud-covered sky to the permafrost below, and consumes the sierra whole.

if his lands were to lay dormant, it would be by his own hand. not that of any inept mortal.

the first avalanche triggers others, and in a few hours' time, the snow at the borders has piled perilously high. kiyoshi surveys the havoc he has wrought from the highest peak, snowblind eyes revealing a heart as sublime and cold as his kingdom. a heart that would not be swayed by trivial offerings of piety or ambition. a crown of ice hangs from the stag's antlers, dazzling in the afternoon sunlight here, so far above the stormclouds below. whoever hoped to claim it would have to demonstrate otherworldly dedication. he had so tired of disappointment. the stag’s lips round unnaturally, forming an eerie howl to all the world below, giving notice of his intent.

the snow-walls at the border will harden to ice in the coming days. alone in a fortress of his own making, kiyoshi waits, brooding on the failures of his flock.

STAFF NOTE: To claim the Ice pack, your character must assemble four followers, other than your own wolf. A "follower" is a wolf which your character has recruited to join ice in a thread with at least 3 posts from your wolf (though multiple wolves may be recruited in one thread). After gathering your followers, post a thread in ice with each of the followers present. The first to do so will be crowned Ice's alpha by Kiyoshi. Please note that all other alpha requirements listed in the rules must also be met for eligibility.

All current ice wolves' necklaces have shattered, as Kiyoshi has disbanded the pack.

Standing there she watched as a couple others gathered and felt sad. The pack was so small, but she hadn't expected it to be this small. Nor had she expected the God of ice to be so angry. This land was so new and strange to her. Laemi was in love with the land of snow and ice. She wanted this to work, but it seemed like it wasn't meant to be. Ears perking at the sound of a low rumble. "What? Uh oh...run!" The golden eyed girl yelled as she ran from the coming snow. As she ran her necklace shattered and she felt sad. This place had just started to feel like home. "White Prince ya said I was wanted. Ya said I was worthy. I told ya I wasn't!" She cried as she ran. Shouting over the rumble at Icarus. As she ran she tripped and tumbled down the side of the mountain blacking out at one point. Waking up after sometime she found herself just outside the ice barrier. Somehow she was alive, but as she stood she found her right front ankle hurt really bad. Almost like it was sprained. "Ow..." She mouthed softly as she limped away to try to figure things out.

This was not what he was expecting, but he never went into anything with any particular plan. It was best to not think ahead too far, so that he couldn't be disappointed. Which, of course, didn't explain why, in the rush of energy of the avalanche coming down and the god's appearance, he still felt a strange emotional surge of his own.
He was slightly offended, maybe.
But, he had to take care of his friends - or not his friends; he didn't know all of them - so he beat the emotion down and turned, sturdy frame already icing over slightly from the blowing snow. The rebel wolf, the stranger, and Icarus. The black knight lit the gem around his neck; it glowed against the wind. The light surged up into his eyes and across his shoulders. He was like a torch.
"Icarus!"
What could he do? They would have to run.
"Come with me to Divine! It's safe there."
"All of you," he added, louder, regardless of the girl who'd suddenly taken off on her own.
He would run, but not until they did, and then he would surge off after them with little grace. Things happened as they would, but, he still found that the unusual irritation was digging in the back of his mind. It took some form of conscious thought; he wasn't so dumb that he couldn't figure out the source of his own displeasure.
If the gods had time to do this, why could they not answer a small question from him, their loyal servant?
He'd ask Lunafer, maybe.
Assuming they got out of the danger area undamaged.

it all seems so joyful in the beginning, how the ice wolves had shown, even kearnal- in his current state. icarus' tail wavered behind him as a glimpse of the rebel boy had shown. there was an aching in his heart for he belonged to ice and carion to rebel- this had been the first he had seen him since the festival. he made a note to speak to him after the meeting. but, little did he know, there would be a devastating after. the man opened his mouth to speak, but, before he could, he hears the rumbles of the snow and rock. his head turns to see an avalanche coming down the sierra. his eyes are widened as he looks around- only catching a glimpse of what seemed to be kiyoshi before the first snows started to hit. his head swung around and eyes caught on carion- the main wolf he was worried about. he almost ran towards him but heard the shouts of laemi and then rascal. tears were brought to his eyes before the man shook his head- if.. if kiyoshi did not want him then he would die with this weather. "rascal! take laemi, carion, and exeter to divine! get out!" he roars as he stands to his feet, only to look to the mountain's peak. "sorry to have failed you." it is a whisper. his eyes narrow on the form of something before one of the larger rocks that is falling seems to hit him along with snow tumbling down towards him. he is knocked to the ground- not even given a chance to counter act the storm with any of his powers. the newly rogue adult lays unconscious in the snow.
"speak and be heard."

icarus is now unconscious and will die in the avalanche unless someone seems fitting to take him.

It was becoming easy to tell when something was off after so many run-ins with the gods. Wind picking up or the temperature falling was nothing unnatural, but it happened quickly enough to be noticeable - that alarmed him immediately. Under normal circumstances, Nicharion would have made sure to quickly make himself scarce. The thought did cross his mind, especially as he picked up the unnerving, steadily rising sound, likely sooner than anyone else present. But his attention went to Icarus. 'What are you doing? Run, you idiot' He watched the white male merely look around as the avalanche neared, somehow too stricken to do anything. Maybe he should have yelled something, maybe he should have.. but when he saw Icarus shake his head, he sprang forward without a thought. He couldn't take any chances. 'Fucking idiot. You're not dying, not unless I kill you myself for being so stupid'

Losses might be inevitable at times, he knew that. But he'll never just sit and accept a god taking something away from him.

When Icarus fell to the ground, Nicharion grit his teeth. Things just had to keep getting better, didn't they? But at least he was close now. "Out of my way!" he snarled, just in case anyone was foolish enough to try otherwise. He was the Rebel here, the strongest, the fastest. If anyone could do it, it was him. Besides.. he couldn't trust anyone else with something important to him, not when every second mattered. He pushed his head under Icarus, trying to drape his body over his back and lift him, grunting with effort as every muscle of his body seemed to struggle against the added weight. But he'd endure, he had to. Moving as fast as he could, and it still felt so painfully slow. But even if the avalanche catches them, they'll have a better chance together.. right?

And if it killed him, well... better to die for heroics than for trying to tear down Kiyoshi's willow tree, which he'd inevitably attempt if he'd left Icarus behind.

melodrama. Not one of Rascal's weaknesses; he frowned in vague confusion as his friend opted to stand still instead of running away. The moment didn't last. The ice wolf collapsed under the snow; he surged forward immediately, limbs shoving him through the falling snow. The rebel wolf snarled something inaudible. The black knight ignored it, silver eyes fixed on his target, arrived slightly late - he was busy making the light, so nobody would get lost - and, panting, discovered the stranger trying to hoist Icarus onto his back.
hmm.
"We will have to drag him," he found himself yelling, despite the wind and the snow that encrusted his form. He was getting too cold. It was going to be harder to get away the longer they waited, and Rascal couldn't build a shelter - or call for help - he was too far away from home, and nobody knew he was here.
He should be more careful, next time. Knights were supposed to travel alone, taking adventure as it came, but sometimes he wondered if maybe some of the edicts of chivalry could be ignored on occasion. The black knight snagged a convenient limb and started moving, burly frame now moving against the wind. There was no time to wait to see if the rebel had any argument to make.
