goddess of spirits

As the hum of the Stardust Festival comes to life, the mother of stars awakens from her pivotal post in the heavenly skies. Twin stars fight to overcome the other as the champion of luminosity, but the matron goddess would fasten them in a resounding breath, bending them to her will as setting them in place of her galactic eyes. Her spirit of zealousness tints the ambiance with peaceful serenity as she descends through the wisps of clouds along the staircase to mortality where she will mix and mingle with the wolves of Doutaini. Unable to consume their delightful spread brought on by Kaede and Akako, Hoshiko is filled instead with a gluttonous clamor of delight. Ethereal features are lit with a mischievous grin as the stardust begins to rain, though among the enraptured chorus that marked the arrival of another Stardust Festival, falling stars would intercede the traditional showers. "Be free," Hoshiko willed, ad gleaming stars were scattered from one end of the fields to the other and everywhere in between. They were caught within the foliage, hidden beneath rocks, and tucked amidst a tangled mess of roots-each placed precisely with equal parts of intent and ingenuity to be found by Doutaini's residents and knitted into a creation that would live on for decades to come.

It was with a single breath that the night sky grew dark thereafter, leaving an eerie scene devoid of the remaining stars caught within the interstellar canvas. All that shimmered in the darkness was the metallic sheen of cosmic debris that eluded to the ongoing festival and the fallen stars scattered among the scenery like enchanted fireflies. The veil of obscurity within the heavens would continue as the task of filling the night sky was shouldered to the wolves of Doutaini-only when her stars had been returned and reinvented with imbued mythology would her eclipse begin to wane. Satisfied with her handiwork, Hoshiko turned towards a place in the fields beside the babbling stream to await her stars that pined to be reunited with their lofty home.

Constellations & Myths

Hoshiko has stolen all of the stars from the sky (except the falling stardust), leaving a strange and exceptionally dark night sky above Serene Fields. The stars have been scattered throughout the fields for the wolves of Doutaini to find. Click Here to learn how you can go about finding the scattered stars.

Once you have found at least 5 stars, have your character show up to return the stars to Hoshiko and explain to her (and your fellow Doutainians) the name, arrangement, and myth behind your constellation. Even if you wolf has not found any/enough stars for a constellation, they may show up here to listen to a new generation of myths to be added to Doutaini's lore.

WHAT IF WE REWRITE THE STARS
SAY YOU WERE MADE TO BE MINE

keeper of stars. The night dragged on within weltering lights of nothingness - the bleak figure of sooten crimson coating the worlds sky with a complete and utter black hole which would seem to swallow the world of quaking life whole. He'd been wandering. Pressing meekly into the shadows of the fields flowery embrace, trailing carefully behind his rebel friend for the most part - unsure of what to think of everything. Silly boy. The way you falsely accuse yourself of thieving stars - only to find you actually have. It's all a mysterious mess. He's quaking. Unsure why, but he is. For the fragment of light cluttering within the tiny hold of burdens seems to weigh heavy upon one whom claimed to have thieved them. I suppose he actually did at this point. He was a thief. Unintentionally, but he had.

Who was a thief to leave such a fragile fragment to die? Stars did die, didn't they? Who could deny such a thing to death? Certainly not the one whom called himself the keeper, yet - truly now, he seemed to be. He held the world within his hands. Or, at least a small portion; and was unsure of what to do with it. He stumbled upon the lands, allowing stars to carry such large burden of him. Icy blue eyes turning to face the illumine-sent figure - stumbling backwards slightly as he allowed the stars to fall from a frail embrace. Aris' eyes widened as he muttered underneath his breath a few times . Naive little child. For he had not stolen the stars, but found them. Shuffling backwards upon cream haunches, the child would dip low motioning unto the remnants as he froze within the embrace of spiritual light.

A whirlwind of colors would seem to spring to life around the young - dancing in an array of light as the tendrils feel of claw and tooth would bare to life. A trisected leopard falling to prowl upon the winds, joining the counterparts of stars. A symbol of upmost strength and unjust peace, and triumph. The large cats body maneuvering in uneven waves as it joined it's counterparts upon the darkened night sky. Asfalis. Safe. It was a symbol to all. Safe, was her name - it was her meaning, her myth. Safety the pure embodiment of protection and peace, a thirst to keep young and old held tight within her longing gaze. eyes swirling within galaxies and the woman slinked upon the stars. Soul Protector falling gently to rest and watch over the young and old of Doutaini from her careful tree perch among the stars.

A starless sky blanketed the earth, raining stardust from its endless nothing. And yet, Doutaini was not void of light. In each corner of the hallowed field, in each peripheral glance and longing stare, in each wild hope that lived in the hearts of wolves, there were stars. They twinkled and danced above the dew-ridden grass, watching the wolves like the eyes of Hoshiko herself. The beast with a burning heart wandered through the night, weaving in and out of their astral brilliance. Without even realizing it, Vaitan, Alpha of Fire, was gathering the stars that called to his spirit. They were drawn to his agony, to his fury, to his determination. They were drawn to his virile power. They were drawn to the everything and nothing that pulsed in his core, like a black hole that dragged everything inside and never let go. Unbeknownst to the beast, he was summoning the essence of Strength, mystical remnants of long-dead legends who would live once more in the heavens.

Suddenly, Vaitan found himself standing before Hoshiko's blinding glory. He narrowed his eyes, lips parting in a silent question; somehow, he knew he would never receive the answers. He was here to present his offering; but hadn't he already offered the gods nothing and everything? Why was he here? Immediate awareness flooded his conscience, unwanted and nearly overwhelming truth that purveyed. Vaitan's eyes were fire as he faced the goddess, stars swirling from his aura and taking shape. A vision of their meaning played in his mind as quickly as he exhaled. This constellation was part of the eternal trifecta, merely one piece of a whole. Wisdom. Cleverness. Strength. The constellation that called to him was a golden eagle, rising higher and higher from the earth to the sky, its talons shimmering in an all-consuming flame. Like a phoenix, it spread its wings--ever-prepared to attack, as vicious as it was tempered. It denied the universe its defeat. Burning Talons soared above him, unfurling and taking its place in the triangular entity with its counterparts.

Zinna Ruellia Vaitan

There is little else he can do, now. Blinded as always and ever, he is a sightless wanderer and the nomadic lifestyle of the Sightless Seer has given him many names and even more appearances, in many worlds besides this--world in which he can see, and worlds in which he cannot. And yet it is this world that grants him a gift, and as he has moved through the fields and come to greet others and tried to place his own stars in the sky at great cost to himself, he finds that there is a warm hum, a burning somewhere within his chest and spirit and he knows where he must be. To no great surprise, he finds Vaitan there already, and he moves to lean his form against the more stout male, pressing his cheek to the Fire Alpha's own as if he could perhaps see through the blessed wolfs' eyes for only a moment, but instead he is granted with the flicker of that Divine Gift Of Sight that is every so often given to him, and he becomes aware now of the fragments of stars that have caught in his frosted pelt, hiding beneath the stardust and nestled amongst the flowing locks, and he sees fit only to return them to the sky, where they belong.

Strength can go only so far along, and so the second part of the trifecta sweeps along on silent wings to join it's counterpart, an Owl that is black as night with eyes that hold the universe within their gaze, and so Infinite Gaze tucks itself alongside its Burning Talons counterpart. It perches, aware and alert and acute, ever-watching those both above and below, for it is Wisdom that the owl embodies, and knowledge it hungers for.

She had searched hard, neck-deep in the grass. The tall growth of the Serene had made the search a real challenge, forcing her to maneuver like a fish in a river. The layer of stardust that coated her fur made her pelt silver, ethereal under the moonlight. Before she knew it a missing piece from the sky was at her paws: a star. So Luna was right, after all. The little pieces of the cosmos had fallen only to be found; they were only waiting to be collected and returned. Gently, she picked it up. Two, three; she found herself enjoying this divinely treasure hunt. At some point, she was clutching five, and decided to stop there. She couldn't hold any more; even now, she feared dropping one, afraid it might disappear the moment it touched the ground.
It took a surprisingly short time for her to find the goddess. The latter sat by the river, radiating joy so strong it made Zinna grin from ear to ear. Speechless, she watched the others give their stars, let them soar high above and paint the sky anew with their own constellations. She walked to the divinity, eyes locked upon the ethereal wolfess. Hoshiko. Zinna had seen her at the Feast, as well as last year's, and she got awestruck every time. Caramel head, frosted with stardust, bowed to the deity. And with that, she put down her cosmic find.
Suddenly light, they waited no longer to return to the solid void above, as if they had merely rested in her grasp and now they were ready to fly again. And as they went, she heard a sound. And she remembered, "Zinna" he had said "Hush, Zinna, and listen." The little pup suddenly fell silent, oversized ears erect. Few seconds passed. "I can't hear anything, father." she mused, amber eyes betraying her puzzlement. "Should I be... hearing anything?" There was a spark in his green eye as he watched her, he wondered over how seriously she took everything, how literal. "I was told that, when the world goes silent, the stars start singing." He whispered...
And for a second the world did grow quiet. For a blink of an eye the Naveen seemed to grow still, the crickets paused their concerto and she felt something bright resonate within. Then the moment was over, and she watched in amazement as a third constellation fit onto the black matter. At first, the stars became one, and it took them a few moments to form what they were meant to be, a figure resembling the one that sat by the river, but younger, a wolfess whose youth would never fade. The one whose fur was made of shattered diamonds, who could tame the sun with one word of hers. Hotaru. She stood there, up high, beside the Strength and the Wisdom and Safety, her maw pointing to the sea on the East. And she was all Joy, bright and never-ending. Never-ending joy, that is what she was. Zinna had seen her fury, had seen her shudder at the cruelty of this world... But let us remember only the good and the happiness, because only they will last. Even the memory of Aderchop, mad and blood-thirsty, couldn't darken this moment for Zinna. And eventually he'd be forgotten, along with all that was bad.
She stood there, amber eyes cast up, up at the new constellation that wowed her so. The image of the goddess that had taken Zinna under her wing, had protected her and all her packmates throughout the years. Their goddess of diamonds.
