He had followed her, or thought he had, but somehow they had been separated; he'd been indecisive in the crater whether or not to follow her. Whatever loyalties he had lay with Svana within her grave. The prospect of starting anew with his elder sister gave him hope for a better future and one where he might know part of his family better than any other. Grief had welled over him and now that the tide had receded he could see more clearly the path he wanted to take. Maybe not to lead to glory but for a future that would prove to his dead mothers he was worth their lives lain to rest, that he had taken away knowledge that the red queen had so wished to provide he and his brothers. He found his paws pressing against the rigid and streaked region of the Stygian, a place that spoke of some past destruction.

"Gideon?" A crackle to the warmth of his voice whipped against the dry air, his lemon-eyes searching the otherwise barren landscape with its slopes ahead. Despite the cooled lava, there was an obvious feel of ascending a mountainous region. There was a warm edge to the air despite the altitude, perhaps radiated through the stone from the magma beneath, roiling within the heart of the volcano. Along his spine the russet hairs bristle, streaks of brass in his face glint beneath the swell of bright daylight provided by the sun - high noon - and he continued forward at a steady pace, feeling the want of thirst begin to tickle the rawness of his throat. Adventures, indeed. He might have muttered to himself, though he was not one to muse aloud and so silently clenched his teeth in annoyance as his throat began to grow scratchy.

oh, she was being called -- had she moved too quickly? she was a rather flighty thing, she'd admit. always a bustle of movement, her blood eager as much as her words. hearing her name, she'd turn. she retreated back towards reef had stood. not knowing what would be drawn from that head of his, she chose to speak first. " quite an exciting place, " she'd remark. it was not plain, offered out of genuine intrigue and warmth. her eyes brightly explored the flats, without much true desire. this was done out of natural curiosity. it was not a task to rush, or force. much like the art of laying root in a land. the earth must be tended to first, must be made strong. a foundation, after all, always made for a stronger home. she sniffed at the stones at her feet, thoughtfully scattering them with a toe before moving to join her younger brother. her haunches would plop at her rear, choosing to sit and admire the strange world over furthering their exploration. " i can see why she'd make this home. " gabriel. always moving, always traveling: so filled with doubt, in those later years. always worrisome, and disheveled. always kind, always loving yet haunted by things she'd been apprehensive in sharing. she disliked thinking of their mother in such respect, but it was the truth as she understood it. and whatever anger there'd been in being left beyond doutaini had been abandoned. it made little sense to cling to it, and that: that within itself was what firmly held gideon where she stood. forgiveness, and understanding. that, and if we were all very honest, a very large need to be loved.

Mother Nature!

The wind dances across the sorrowed ash fields like it carries some hidden message. It flurries across your fur and whistles through your ears. It stops as quickly as it came, deafening to a weighted silence. The voice comes from seemingly nowhere. It is etched like a whisper, and yet it sounds like an adult is mimicking a child’s voice.

“See it break,” it coos.

If you step forward and peer around, you will find there is no source of the sound. A cry echoes from somewhere behind you, distant but recognizable as the same voice.

“TEAR IT DOWN!”

This time it is louder, and more shrill. The hot stench of breath collides with your nostrils and presses against your skin before it rings a final time, from directly beside you.

“Let it fall."

and then it is gone.

NOTE: Simply ignore this post if you do not wish to acknowledge Mother Nature. However, you will be granted 2 EP for participating in this event.

He's thankful when she doesn't continue into the distance and instead retreats to where he is. Maybe he'd been caught day-dreaming again and slowed his pace, though he'd followed her directly from the Kuro, he had already been somewhat behind as he'd hesitated, looking upon the blessed form of Seacca with some guilt for dislodging any shred of loyalty he'd had left for Storm. Loyalties seemed so thin when he thought of how easily he'd stepped away. Now his russet ears cupped Gideon's voice with a raised brow line.

Lemon-lime eyes scoped the area. Great vertical, tar-colored streaks ran down the slopes of their surroundings. A place he'd never been. He remained silent as Gideon sniffed at the charcoal stones at her paws and speaking more; whilst she did so, he lowered to his haunches against the warm sun-baked ground. "What was she like?" He asks suddenly, curious about their mother. He'd never known Gabriel as a person, not wholly. Only tidbits of a kind face that loved her children and cooed soft words to her youngest, not much more as the days remained short with her. He welcomes the companionable

'See it break.' A whisper that draws his eyes to the empty space around them, hackles beginning to rise down his backside. There's something quite unsettling about the voice, it reminds him of when he'd spoken to that goddess pup a long time ago; at least, that pup had claimed to be a goddess. 'Tear it down!' The same voice echoes from behind and he finds his paws, presses them hard against the stone to whirl around, tail out for balance but pressing against his thighs as he settles facing the other direction. There's something unnatural about the voice. "Giddy..." a soft whine to the warm crackle of his voice extends backwards towards his half-sister, just above a whisper but spoken in a way meant to be secretive. 'Let it fall!' This time from beside them. His hackles flare fully as his lips peel away from teeth, head lowered sharply between his shoulder blades as he felt his paws splay and a growl thrum through his cords. "Go away!" The sharp crackle of his voice whips against the air in a harrowed bark. Fear meets bravery as he feels a sharp bite of adrenaline coax his flight or flight response and he chooses to stand his ground against the invisible.
