[][]ooc: Confirmation to continue goin' with Hotaru's plot for now.[][]

This was an even farther journey than before, though Rascal seemed energized enough for everybody. It was a good thing, too, as he was beginning to wonder exactly how, where and why all of this was going on. Part of him already knew--part of him said it was safe, that this was what was supposed to happen, what NEEDED to happen. Another, though quieter (while still somehow more rational) part of him said 'yes, but you and a group of others are following a swarm of fireflies'. Regardless, this somehow seemed to be important. Fireflies, fireflies... Why oh WHY did they feel so important, and what was this weight on his chest that was not heavy but not light and while he could not see it's presence, he FELT it, strongly. Still, this new place was one he had yet to be-- and he was wary, if on;y because seeing in the dark was not something most could do.
It seemed they'd stopped for now, and so he turned on his heels, gazing out towards the gaggle-- a small flock. A pleasant flock-- a beautiful one, even.
"I'd like to get a headcount. Could everybody who's made it state their names?" He worried not about Barrett, for he carried the young pup for much of the journey, not wishing to wound his young paws, though allowing him enough of the journey to grow strength in his legs. Having occasionally stopped for food and water, the fireflies had never strayed far, and it had become dreadfully clear that they--this gathering--were destined for divine and wonderful things.

He had been wandering--aimlessly, it seemed, for a while, Here from the beaches, he'd somehow found his way farther in-land, the dual suns in the sky seeming to point him in the right direction--and were it not the suns, than it was a persistent firefly that drifted casually in and out of his vision, dancing between his ears and along the handsome line of his nose. So young he was, but wise beyond his years it seemed, for it was but a matter of time before he found someone he needed. He had been heading towards Earth--towards Briar, towards his father-- but No, the firefly said. This way, this way, and he was inclined to follow.

How good that he did, for it was soon not one firefly, but many, and as they swarmed into a glittering group, so too did those that had followed. "Luna!" He gasped, and immediately wasted little time in flinging himself into his parents' arms, burying his face in his chest, for oh, what an ordeal it had been and oh, how he missed the warmth and beauty of his home and his comfort.

They stopped once again at some caves, tired and, somewhat aimless. Zinna was starting to worry even more about Martini. Even as ragged as he was Rascal acted with energy... wich couldn't be said about the black one. She looked somewhat worried. Secretly, Zinna kept an eye on her throughout the journey. "Maybe I should find her some st.John's wart?" She'd keep an eye out for the yellow herb as they went.
A headcount would be nice. she thought.
"Zinna." she answered, first to say her name, and waited for the others. Are surnames necessary for a headcount? Probably not.
Her ears turned toward the sound of pawsteps, then her head turned to follow a pup as he strode into Lunafer. She tilted her head questioningly. Who was this?

"!!!"

He scrambled fast after the bug, silver eyes fixed on his target. The rest of the group seemed to have fallen behind him a bit. It led him over fields and, finally, down into a cave.
Rascal hesitated. It seemed like someone had once warned him that caves were bad. Or that he had met someone who lived in a cave who he didn't like? It confused him, briefly, but he shrugged after a second and ventured into the dimness. The firefly was visible somewhere in there.
It was a quest, after all, and being scared of things that happened was part of the deal.
Not that the was actually afraid. That would be silly. He could hear the rest of the group behind him anyway, chatting about something or other. It was, he decided, his job to venture into the back of the cave and check for monsters.

He wandered a little into the back, staring around. Something fluttered around in the distance overhead; he twitched, flinched at it, bared his teeth, and felt something wet splatter onto his back.
He glanced at it, awkwardly. It was definitely a poop. He tried growling again, visions of dragons dancing in the back of his mind, spotted a pair of leathery wings, and watched the bat fly into the outside world a minute later.

The black knight re-emerged a minute later, frowning slightly, decided it was best to pretend he wasn't decorated with a turd, and stared briefly up at the sky in what he suspected was a noble, knightly way.
"The cave is clear," he announced, and dropped the act immediately to smile at the group. "My name's Rascal."

The expedition from the jagged peaks of Aitou Pass had blended merrily with the traveling band of strangers, all brought together by the whimsical escorts of starlit fireflies. Adalaye could not have been more grateful to have crossed paths with them, for as lost as she might have been in the subconscious of her mind, she felt as though she had found her place among the canvas of faces she swore she had seen in a dream not long ago. They were a family she had never met, one she absent-mindedly felt she was inclined to protect against all odds. The boulder that had followed her from the meadow seemed to have lost some of its mass, its presence still there but more tolerable than it had been days prior.

From the mountain peaks it seems the fireflies had trailed them far from the clouds and low to the crystal caverns of the earth. [don't forget to see the light...] the warm memory of a comely voice sings to her. Opal eyes streaked by golden lightning takes a seat when Lunafer suggests a headcount. Rascals presence brings a lighter atmosphere to the group and she hides a smile at his misfortune, managing to clear her throat through a chortle of amusement before her attention shifts to each wolf.
"I'm Adalaye," she introduces with a graceful bow of her thickly curled mane.

&& she is forever faithful

"Lypso'ru&&Amaranthe"

The scent is too familiar, it brings a stinging sensation to her eyes and throat, a tightness to her limbs that she can't help but succumb too. She'd been venturing further away from the Gaia as the weeks drew on, still afraid for confrontation but slowly she was getting a handle on her anxiety. It is Lunafer that catches her attention now and she turns to glance over her shoulder for Amaranthe, who is busy climbing the boulders by the caverns for entertainment. The child looks up at the same time, having heard the Divine Kings' voice, and the look on her face is priceless as her lips split sidelong in a large grin. "LUNA!" Her howl is high-pitched and cherry sweet to the ears, Lypso returns the expression instantly, excitement rocketing through her veins as she darts towards the Caverns opening. Towards Lunafer. Family. It is a quick trip, even in the dark, the two stay together and follow the lights that blink and dash against each wall; before finally they find the rather small group. She notices nothing but him- and Zinna there off to the side, the others are strangers (and was that little Anteros?). "Lypso'ru," she whispers, "and Amaranthe," the girls chimes in afterwards. "Luna... it's so good to see you again." They pause where they stand, a few metres away from the others, giving them enough space if they needed it, but their postures told stories of how deeply they wanted to join them. Amy bounces on the spot, wanting so much to leap forwards into Luna's arms- but there is hesitation in her smile. What if they don't forgive us?

She had ranged from the group as they travelled; keeping them within scent and yet scouting out to the sides in an effort to find something. There. A groundhog... it had tried to run but she'd been faster; catching it before it could duck back into its holes. She could feel the burn of Zinna's stare; after days and weeks alone it felt almost as powerful as the heat from the sun. Why did she care; if she didn't even remember her? It was a black cloud over her that brought no joy in her catch. She caught up to the group just as Rascal emerged with quano on his face and declared the caves safe. Nodding; she set the food down by the youngest members of their group. "It's not much but eat up pups." The higher pitched tone and the arrival of two more had her drawing back; hips pressing against the wall of the cave. Lypso. She was alive. And her girl. That meant... Out of them; Panik had died alone. With neither of them able to save her and yet neither of them loosing their lifes. What then of the others? She was breathing hard; teeth clenched as her mind swirled about the different scenarios. All she had to do was ask. Anxiety pressed in on her; the group far too large for her to comfortably handle; the faces far too dear. Her head bowed; her voice coming out thick. "My name is Martini-" the stubborness of her utterance pressed on her; weighed on her until she could stand it no more. "Vodka Thor Martini. Lypso'ru... can you tell me what happened; after?" Maybe not right now; but perhaps while they were walking? She could breath again; now that she had not fully abandoned her namesake. Yet in a way; Vodka was indeed dead... all that was left was Martini. An empty cup with a bitter alcohol soaked olive. Gone was the burn; the flames of flambe' and comforting glow of skrewdrivers. Her bottle was empty; litter upon an abandoned alley in the dark of night as drunks stumbled past and the stench of vomit and trash thickened in the air. She was no longer top shelf premium grade... she never had been. It had all been a lie; a fake label glued on to have customers think she was worth more than she was to increase their profits. Eyes of a shadowed moonbeam averted. Lowered to look at her paws. This wasn't her group any more... she should leave. Yet she couldn't bring her paws to move. To walk away.

A pompf to his chest as the angelic youth slams his body into Lunafer's, wriggling with delight. He returns it instantly, pressing a hug an a light kiss to the top of his child's head, just as Rascal makes himself known all over again-- standing so proud, so tall, so brave. Zinna, Rascal, Adalaye, Martini, Anteros and...
"LUNA!" Amaranthe's voice reaches him before both she and her mother do, and there is a sudden pang in his chest that bursts to life upon their arrival. He knows them. They know him? But from where...? Who are they-- and why do they make him feel warm inside? Lypso'ru.... It clicked. He knew this name-- he'd forgotten, but he knew, and so, must have known her. And they greeted him with joy and love and so he could only assume that they were good--yes. He smiles, warm and gentle, even as Martini quietly slides in with them,"I'm sorry...But I cannot recall how I know you. Luckily, it seems none of us can recall who we are, or why. But if you're here, you are meant to be."

Vodka, in her kindness, feeds the children and he gestures then, for the brokenhearted creature to come and sit, just as the fireflies gather together once again.
"Where to, now?" He wonders aloud, his pale gaze fixated upon the fireflies that swarmed now--having risen to a crescendo. Surely, this must be the next act.

"Saxifrage is my flower that splits the rocks."

You notice a particularly persistent firefly hovering around you - stranger still, it's glowing alight even though it's still day time... After staying nearby for some time, it sets off southeast, zipping across the hills and peaks. Eventually it zooms away from view, and it seems to be headed to Firefly Cove!

Almost everyone stated their names, and some more wolves arrived. She knew she knew Lypso'ru, didn't quite remember how, and, there was something familiar in the star-marked Amaranthe. But then again, it was a blur, blur, blur.
"none of us can recall who we are-" Zinna nodded in agreement as the white wolf spoke. Vodka fed the younger ones (she was so kind!) and then Lunfer asked "where to?". As if taking this as a signal, another firefly waltzed in. Zinna grinned.
"I suppose we follow the lightning bug." She answered as the firefly started to drift away. She took a step after it.
"Maybe we don't know who we are, but, at least we have a guide to lead us." she nodded toward the bugs.
