Athos had asked him to schedule a hunt and though he had taken a bit long about it he was ready now. Gray fur moved along the edges of the meadows; sapphire eyes sharp and nose testing the air for the best angle of approach. The prey was decent what with it being autumn... They were all trying to eat and fatten themselves up to survive the winter. Just as he figured he had an optimal spot and prepared to howl for the pack a streak of white darted across the meadow; scaring just about everything in it. Damn. It be another day or two now before the prey felt comfortable to return. Snarling to himself he stalked forwards; hackles ridged as he approached the wolf that had done the scaring. "That was a dick move." It was a white female; thick with the scent of rebel on her coat.

This forest of emotions closes in; leaving a 'one way only' path.
I know what is down that dark trail; but there is no turning back.
One, Two, more souls drift away; only one will fill this hole. Wrath.
Pieces of me lost and broken drift away; my ribs an empty rack.

There was a hunter near the edge but he was of only half importance to her. She'd failed at trying to get pregnant and Charlotte... her mistress and heart had far too many others looking to absorb her attention. She needed fresh supplies and she'd waited until just the right moment to go charging off into the meadow; scaring everything. Clearly put out; the male approached and Dismay wagged her tail; bounding over towards him even as he stated that she'd done a dick move. Well yeah; the whole point had been to piss him off; though he didn't know it yet. There was an air of innocence to her. A mask of youthful abandon as she closed the distance and moved to snuggle up against his shoulder. "It was fun; and besides this way they won't get all plump and I'll have more carcasses during the winter." Raspberry eyes glimmered with mirth as she obliviously invaded his personal space.

He snarled as she came over and pressed against him; his teeth flashing a warning towards her already scarred muzzle as he sidestepped to remove any sort of touch. He had a mate damnit and the last thing he needed was to come home smelling of another bitch. She seemed to have no knowledge of personal space but the last thing he wanted to do was cause tensions between Rebel and Ice. She was clearly enjoying herself and he decided the best thing to do would be to leave this situation. He didn't know what her game was but he wasn't going to play. Turning he moved to leave; hackles still bristled and his ears pinned back with a clear warning in his dark eyes. leave me alone. She didn't seem all that threatening but her actions were... odd. Almost like she was flirting? Well; mark him down as not interested; thanks. He made sure not to turn his full back to her; but he'd be damned if he was going to stick around.

He turned to walk away and her amusement grew. She had danced with him; keeping fairly close as he tried to step away and now she lunged; fangs aiming for the tendons in his flank.

-bloody fight ensues-

She had what she wanted. It had been a bloody fight but his eyes were hers now. She would have liked to take more but she was already pressed for time. Turning; uncaring of the blood trail that she was leaving behind she turned and hobbled her way towards the bording edges of the Jinsyn waterfalls and spiritus speculum. She had to be careful of her precious trophy but at least in the waterfalls she could wash off some before returning home.

The hell. Bitch was crazy and while he'd seen red trying to defend himself something had gone wrong. Somehow she'd managed to best him and now he lay broken and bloody upon the meadows. Fertilizer for the grass. The pain he was in; it was more powerful than anything he'd ever felt. Took his breath away before he realized the sounds he was hearing were coming from his own body. If he could of he'd have squeezed his eyes shut; blocked out the world... even just the thought of it caused a pain within him that had him bordering on blacking out. He tried. He tried to let out a howl; a call; a gasp. "Help me-" He couldn't fight it anymore and passed out into blissful unconsciousness; his last thoughts of Jo and the pups.

Damages: Eyeballs removed ; torn tendons in back legs ; belly ripped open with bowels protruding ; various other less serious bites

Will die from blood loss + trauma if medical attention is not provided

(is unconscious and open to power play)

The call had been barely audible, but the sound carried by the wind was loud enough to send Josephina's heart racing and not in a good way. Her first instinct was to race right out of the den, but she had two pups beside her. There were a few moments of hesitation, and each second that passed felt like claws dragging along Josephina's side. Something was wrong, and she needed to leave. With a deadly serious voice, she told the two pups to remain inside the den. She didn't like to be so stern with them, but she had to.

Once the pups were taken care of, she was racing out of the den. Josephina sprinted across the land faster than she had ever done so before. Mountains, hills, deserts, and fields blurred past her. The she-wolf's legs burned as she flew towards the source of his howl. Her adrenaline pumped through her veins and kept her from even noticing the fire that burned within her from the sudden exercise. When she finally arrived, her heart almost stopped entirely.

No!

A few seconds of silence passed as she stood there, watching her mate for any signs of life. The air around her grew still. When she finally saw the smallest rising of his side, she had to choke back a sob. He wasn't dead, and Josephina would fight the gods if it meant saving her love. She had lost so many of those she cared for, and he was not going to be added to that list.

Raising her head to the sky, Josephina called for anybody and everybody. She called for any nearby healers including those of Divine and Earth though she knew not their names. It didn't matter to her who they were as long as they could help. She called to Athos. She called to Szymon and Tillyons for help to track the trail of blood that took all of Josephina's will to not follow. All Josephina could do was call to others for help, and she felt completely helpless. The only thing she could do was make sure that her voice howled louder than the wind of the largest storm. Everybody across the land would hear her voice. They would come to help. They would save Kearnal. They would aid her in finding the bitch who had done this and left her scent behind.

Once her throat could no longer withstand the intensity of her voice, Josephina returned her attention to Kearnal. Running to his side, she tried to think of what to do. A brief memory of Athos's fight with Greg flashed through her mind. With all the strength she could muster in her state, Josephina used the element of ice to cover Kearnal's wounds in frost. Mania had done the same to Athos long ago, but these injuries were far worse. By the time the frost had covered all his wounds, almost his entire body was sheeted in the thin layer.

Somebody come quick she pleaded silently. Please.

As she meandered through the tall brush, full of long grassy fronds and the last of the warm weather's flowery blooms, she heard a loud, desperate howl, full of panic and fear. Her head snapped immediately towards the distressed voice. It was a she-wolf, in dire need, as she begged for healers, for Szymon and Tillyons, though Asceo did not recognize their names. With a growl, she whipped around and sprinted towards the source of the howl. It was not too far for her to reach, but the plea sounded from deep within the meadows. Asceo's paws kicked out harder against the ground as she vaulted over errant boulders and raced to get to her. Something told Asceo she was desperately needed. A howl like that could only mean that death crept nearby. She sent a silent prayer to all of the gods that she had carried cobwebs and other basic herbs with her, and to Neeve, the clever she-pup who had shown her how to create the pouch that bounced on her neck beside Earth's gem.

The pungent fear-scent grew stronger by the stride, and the metallic tang of blood hung heavy in the air. She was almost there. Asceo shot out from a thick patch of grass and skidded to a halt as her jaw dropped in shock. She regretted it immediately, the smell of blood and pain was overpowering, and she inhaled deeply through her nose to calm her shaking nerves as her amber eyes took in the horrific scene.

A black she-wolf stood beside a wolf who lay motionless in the clearing, a growing pool of blood spread from it and lapped at the living wolf's feet. But she only looked at Asceo with panic. She isn't the one who caused this. Asceo took another long, calming breath and she felt her mind wall off the emotions that clamored at her heart: fear, confusion, uncertainty. None of those things would aid her; only analysis and calculated action.

She ran to them as she scanned the wolf's body for signs of life, of whatever ill fortune that had befallen him. With a gasp of relief as much as surprise, she saw the shallow rise and fall of the wolf's sides. He had a wider bone structure and shoulders, a broad skull; the victim was a male.

It matted his fur underneath a sheet of something white and hard, so that it was impossible to tell what his original pelt color had been. His belly had been torn open, his intestines lay in a revolting heap beside him as they spilled out of him. Ravaged bloodied holes sat gaping where his eyes should have been. No scent of a predator, even through the thick blanket of blood-scent could be tasted. But she picked up the smell of another she-wolf, but not the one whose stress roiled off of her in waves beside the wounded male. A recent trail of trodden grass smeared with blood lead away from the scene that led towards the waterfalls. Whoever did this has already left. Such an obvious trail was left behind, that could only mean she had left in a hurry, or perhaps was too stupid to have made her exit appear more confusing, or even worse, that she did not care who followed her. None of that mattered to Asceo. Right now, a wolf lay dying in front of her. She turned her attention back to him.

With a bit of confusion, she realized that the white substance was a thin layer of ice. With a curious glance, she finally noticed the pale blue stone hung from her throat, and as Asceo stole another look at the dying male, he too held the same stone.

Ice wolves. They must have been mates.

Asceo looked at the distraught she-wolf, her mind working quickly. If this poor creature could somehow be saved, they had precious little time to do it.

There was no time to be polite. She barked at the she-wolf, "I'm Asceo. Give me your name. And his." It didn't matter what had happened here. But she couldn't give orders or attempt to coax him from unconsciousness without something to call them. And if I can help it, you won't be called a widow after this, Asceo thought, and sent a swift prayer to Kaede. Grant me the strength to save him!

Asceo approached his body to examine him more closely, growling deeply. His wounds were dire, but he remained alive–for now, at least. The tendons in his back legs had been torn, savage bites had removed clumps of fur and added to the blood, but none would have been fatal had the perpetrator not pulled his inner organs out or gouged his eyes from his head. She swung her head from side to side, searching for them, but his eyes were nowhere in the vicinity. Her lip curled with disgust. His attacker had taken them. Perhaps as a trophy? She shuddered at the thought.

Without wasting a moment more, she threw the bag from her neck with a toss of her head. It landed beside her, falling open to reveal various plants, neatly packaged and cut.

"You did well to slow his bleeding with the frost, but the ice has already damaged the nerves and added to his shock," she said briskly as she reached a paw into her hide-pouch for cobwebs.

"It served its purpose, but much longer…" she trailed off, racking her brain furiously for any herbs that may help keep him alive. "Melt it, now! Then fetch me as many cobwebs as you can find!" she snapped. "And if you get back here and I'm not standing, cover any open wounds with them. Keep his heart beating with you paws if you have to."

She rapidly located the skullcap leaves and began chewing them into a pulp. Using her paws the open her jaw, she placed the pulp as far back into his throat as she could, before clamping his jaws shut with her own and rubbing his throat with rhythmic downward strokes to get the pulp into his stomach to digest. At least that was one organ that hadn't fallen out.

She waited impatiently for the she-wolf to melt the ice as she asked, and if she did, Asceo would hastily press a thin layer over the holes. As much as to keep the bugs and bacteria at bay as to make his appearance less horrifying. Remember to coat them with honey for anti-septic–if he lives, she reminded herself.

Asceo hauled herself to her feet and gently used her mouth to persuade his intestines back into his belly, careful to not pierce the soft flesh with her teeth. She had never seen the insides of a wolf before, so she briefly observed the way the rest of his organs seemed situated within his body and tried to mimic the way they twisted within his body. With luck, she wouldn't ruin his digestive track or how anything worked. She almost snorted to herself. It would take a miracle to save him from death. But determination gripped her instead of giving up; miracle be damned, she was going to try. Briar had only shown her once before, but luckily it had been recent.

She took a deep breath and exhaled to calm herself. This would take all of her strength and focus to do. Asceo lowered her snout to his belly and drew from the well of energy that flowed inside her gift from Kaede, the Earth gem that hung from her throat. "Kaede, give him life," she breathed. Instantly she felt the power drawing from hers and she swayed on her paws, taken aback by its sheer strenth. Thank the gods the prey had been running well throughout the summer months and her health was greater than ever. Hopefully, it would withstand the poison long enough to close his stomach.

Asceo snarled in pain and anger as her stomach filled with acid. But his stomach was beginning to stitch itself together, closing at the edges and working their way towards center. She pushed harder against the flow of magic and the poison burned fiercely in her throat like fire, put his organs back in place. It obeyed and she observed the way they moved into place before they were sewn away from view. Her legs felt heavier than they ever had, exhaustion rooted her paws to the ground.

Suddenly her vision lurched and pitched to the left. Pain exploded in her head as it slammed into the ground. The last thing she could feel was poison eroding the soft flesh of her mouth as it pooled around her muzzle and burned her face, throat convulsing violently. And then there was nothing.

for Josephina Kearnal. 1480 words. "speech".

notes: Asceo races in, carrying cobwebs and skullcap in a pouch that hangs from her neck. She offers her name, asks for Josephina's and Kearnal's.

Orders Josephina to melt her ice so that Asceo can get to the wounds and to fetch cobwebs. Without waiting for a response (other than waiting for the ice to be removed), she gets to work. Assuming Josephina melts the ice as asked, she will begin to cover his missing eyes with a hasty thing cover. (If she doesn't melt the ice for Asceo, then just move past that part and assume his eyes were never wrapped).

She tries her best to mimic the way the few intestines left in his belly are arranged when she puts the spilled ones back in. Asceo then uses life, a power she's only learned once and never for something this drastic. It successfully stitches up his belly and even rearranges the organs slightly to be more correct. But the poison erupts from her mouth (vomit-like in manner) as she suddenly collapses from using the power. She hits her head on the ground during her fall knocking her out, and the poison is still leaking from her mouth, beginning to pool around her muzzle. If her head is not moved soon, it will begin to eat away and burn the flesh at the sides and underside of her muzzle.

Asceo will be unconscious for at least 1-2 turns, but is alive.

I have just added an EP update to reach 100 EP because I haven't updated recently. The points will be there after the update.

Jo! She knew that howl; knew that something was wrong just with the tone behind it and as she sprinted to the call the growing stench of blood almost made her stop. no; not again. There; In the meadows... "KEAR!" She came upon them in time to hear the earth wolf's words about the ice. No. She'd not loose another sibling! Not like this! Lunging forward; she pressed tight against both ice wolves; willing her own heat from the run to melt the ice. Faster... as soon as it shifted from feeling cold against her to feeling moist she pulled away. She didn't want to contaminate the wounds and instead pressed against Jo snugly. As the earth wolf called upon Kaede she let out her own howl for Asher Bhaltair and Panik and Lypso'ru and the rest of the thor family Elsinor and Singer . She couldn't do anything much here and it wasn't until the healer collapsed that she moved. Gently she nudged under the woman's head and raised it slightly so that she wouldn't choke on the vomit and then when the vomiting stopped she moved her to the side so that she wouldn't be laying in it. Hopefully Asceo would recover but the panic; the pain and hurt started shifting.

She had bottled up too much for too long now and as her guts shifted and churned with emotions her moonbeam eyes grew cold; dead of any kind of empathy as her head turned and studied the criminal's trail slowly growing cold. The rest of the family should be here any moment for Jo... "Keep him alive Jo; if divine arrives tell them he's my brother... I've got this." She didn't care about the consequences anymore. Turning she lunged and started to sprint away; nose and eyes following the trail of blood left behind by whoever had did this. She would find them and she would make them PAY. She would not allow her brother to die while his murderer still roamed these lands... He just had to last. Had to survive. She was TIRED of wolves ruining her family!

Exits after Dismay

Also I'd like to use my DIVINE PASS here to have Kiyoshi (preferably) show up

her voice is unknown, but the lilt of distress pierces doutaini through with white-hot need; it resounds, an audible force desperate enough to coax a shred of concern from his rime-stone heart. those inked lips press in a thin line as he unfurls, rising against the sky with his eyes narrowed in the direction of her summons. without weighing the odds, anaxagoras throws his maw to the heavens and screams out a secondary summons specifically meant for Tyrus, Bhaltair, Briar, and Philippa, before exploding into a fierce sprint toward the meadow. his tail lashes fervently behind him as lungs rapidly expand and contract, allowing him to employ agility and hover; haruko's grace empowers the legionnaire, enabling him to arrive upon the scene with unnatural haste. igneous eyes widen as he catches sight of the debacle -- wolves, one grievously injured, sprawled unconscious upon the scarlet-stained grass. anaxagoras glances to Josephina, brow knitted tightly over narrow eyes. " explain, " he urges at once, kneeling to quickly inspect Asceo before moving on to Kearnal. the evidence of a massacre is glaring, and anaxagoras feels his stomach pull taut as his gaze roves over the poor man's eyes. " gods, " he murmurs, pondering on whether or not this wolf's punishment met the crime. feeling helpless ( because for all of his strengths, healing remains his achilles' heel ), anaxagoras begins to stalk around the perimeter, adopting the duty of guarding those vulnerable until help descended upon the growing gathering. prayer flees his lips in wordless whispers, his tongue moving vehemently against the backs of his gleaming teeth. gods, deliver them unto me swiftly -- spare the man with a second chance!

The wind stirred within his breast an unsettling weight, and the white-hot screams of agony and rage twisted into his ears. He trailed on Anaxagoras' pathway, his tail whipping in tandem with quick breaths that fueled his speed as he hovered and used the air's added agility. His frame was on bent joints, ears slick back and head level with his spine to allow for better aerodynamics as he flew. The overwhelming scent of blood and putrid stink of intestine, rapidly infected wounds eagerly coagulating as they tried with futility to save the brave soul that still clung to life. The macabre sight stole his breath and he was forced to land, with only one shaken step betraying his unease. He is silent as he listens for the responses to his comrade's questions, intense blue eyes absorbing the acrid scent of the earth woman's vomit and remnant shakes. Asceo. Her name came easily to memory, and seeing that she was on her side, there was little more he could do for overuse of an element. Her foolhardy task lie still broken and battered, unconscious with the wails of a loved one tethering the victim back to the living. “Be calm,” he snapped to the terrified wife, voice terse as he dug through the first aid tools he'd quickly grabbed before departing the mountain. "Pray." Screaming, and sobbing, would only distract from concentration. The skin on his belly was raw, oozing, healed by a novice hand and desperation. The gargoyle looked at the ghoulish holes where eyes should be, and he felt ice grip his heart; the wind stirred within him, beating around in the skies vehemently until they solidified into a hardened sliver, a cruel pointed edge that was made with the love of mercy. Is that a life worth living? It would be easy to judge, the hammer, the knife. The fickle winds screamed against him, and he allowed his concentration and control to ebb, instead stepping back with a shadowed expression to glance for a healer – preferably, someone he was confident in. Waernyss, Philippa. The patient was currently unconscious, and any analgesic may interfere with whatever medicine he truly required, if there were any way to save him other than the Gods' grace. Dutifully, he aided the victim in whatever way he could, merely trying his best to keep him ( and Asceo ) stable until more experienced authorities could arrive.

There is a quail that dangles helplessly in his jaws as his head raises to catch the call in the winds. The dangling willow limbs of the glade suddenly lash around his face and his eyes narrow. There is an urgency to the voice of Anaxagoras and though Briar's mouth is occupied he moves. He finds them, trailing behind. How long had Kearnel lay there bleeding? How much blood had he lost? Though Briar is no skilled healer, he knew the severity of wounds. Technicalities were useless. He quickens, weaving his way through his comrades. Ice was his ally and he found his heart ready to burst, especially when his eyes found Asceo. Lips curl around the bloody quail and he snarls, surging forward to find her. He would aim to press into her side and drop the quail. He then aims to press his muzzle into her reassuringly, lovingly as he aims a quick snap to pull her from the vile liquid expelled from her mouth. He knew the burning residue of Kaede well. Asceo was alive and that was the first thing that was important to the King. His attention then turns to Kearnal. He doesn't focus on anyone else, what did it matter? Anxiety was already eating at him with how many had gathered. Asceo had already stitched up his stomach, the worst of it. So Briar would focus on his legs first. With life their side effects were seemingly intensified. It never got easier. Even as Briar watched the insides meld back together and flesh stitch back there is immediate pain that shoots through his ribcage. He seethes. His breathing is heavier now as he gags, tears welling up in his eyes. Briar continues. Once his magic is complete on his leg he strides to his face. Suddenly, Briar wretches. The contents of his stomach expelling to his left slightly. He does not apologize, he does not look up to see if anyone was disgusted. He is intently focused.

He pauses, only to regain himself eyelids drooping. "Be still, please. I cannot regrow your eyeballs, that is beyond mortal magic.", he breathes in gasps. So Briar falters, catching himself on the ground as he faces Kearnal's face. Briar squinted as he rested slightly before attempting to use life again. It is less perfect as his wounded eyes are only closed. There is no eyeball and Briar couldn't do anything for that. However, Briar does not completely seal them, just lessen the severity of it as he gasps. Pain reverberates through his ribs again and he attempts to stumble against Asceo. He aims to put his neck against hers, across hers gently so he could detect her life and rest himself. "I...I'm sorry...it's the best I can do."

His head is struck with intense pain, vision blurry and himself disoriented. He would have stumbled more if he had not found a resting space. He was extremely thirsty and his joints ached, trembling uncontrollably. Though he hadn't passed out like Asceo, only because he held more experience using life, the edge of consciousness just a small click away. He coughed gently against Asceo if she still lay there, eyes fluttering with flaring hackles. He just...he just needed a nap. Kaede, please. He whined gently.

ATHOS THOR!
❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄
It's now or never!
⚔ ⚔ ⚔ ⚔ ⚔

There is considerable distance between the King and the sound of his sister-in-law’s anguished plea! He halted in his tracks but momentarily as he discerned the direction from whence her cry came. His thoughts instantly jumped to the pups and panic roused within. Nothing would ever have prepared him for the scene he would stumble upon. Many were gathered and the true object of interest was obscured from his sight. That was until he shouldered his way past and to the side of Josephina. An icy cold shudder ran through his body that had nothing to do with the element he possessed. The metallic tang of blood clung to his nose and the acrid stench of vomit mingled there as well.

"Jo… How?" His words were barely audible. He had arrived too late to be of any real use, his friends and allies had already patched his brother up to the best of their abilities. But was it good enough? The blood had pooled far and wide, there was a scar along his gut, fresh with blood and other bodily fluids and he knew that he had suffered a what would have been fatal wound. Was it still classed as such though? Were his injuries too far gone despite the work of those who worked so hard to save him? He moved around and though he did not acknowledge them, he was grateful for every wolf that had come here to help. There was a strange calm about him. As though what had happened had not phased him. But he was experiencing much the same emotion as Vodka had (though he did not know that she had been here already). Kearnal was his litter brother. He could not lose him, not yet!

Oh how he wished that Mother and Father were here now. They would have known what to do! Maybe Miach would have had some remedy to help ease his pain… "Will he still feel pain?" He asked of Briar, for he was conscious, whereas his assistant was not. "Even though you have healed him, will he feel the pain? Is there anything that can be given?" He wants to thank them for their help, but he could not begin to think how. All he wanted to know was if his brother was going to be alright? He took a step around so that he was looking at his face. "As handsome as ever brother." He tried to smile but failed, hoping only that his voice would somehow penetrate.

She had not instantly recognized the howl from Josephina despite her being fairly close by. It had not registered that it was her, only having met the woman at meetings. But she did recognize her name being called and her ears perked at that! She hurried along, unaware of what she would find. She drew closer and as she looked at the wolves gathered her gaze lingered upon Anaxagoras. What was he doing here? A small frown creased her brow as she looked at each wolf, settling finally on Athos. She moved towards him and stopped in her tracks, gasping audibly as she saw Kearnal! "What happened? What happened?" She all but screamed. The scent of blood was overwhelming and the sight of her brother lying lifeless upon the ground was terrifying! She wanted to fling herself upon him, screaming his name and willing him to wake up, but that would help nothing and no-one. She could not pull her eyes from his form. Her breath came quickly as she prayed with all her might to Kiyoshi to spare him, to let him live! It was then that she saw his vacant sockets and her breath shook. "Oh Gods! His eyes!" She was trying to keep calm, but it was hard to do when someone you loved was so badly injured!
