K E I T A R O

a cloudless sky rumbled and rolled over head, creating sounds by no mere means of mortality. birds dove down from the sky, alighting on every branch and rock and nook in the earth as if in preparation for a show not to be missed. dandelions puffed in a swelling breeze, dancing lazily in suspended currents to entertain those who had arrived before the curtains rose. the conductor himself still lazed about the heavens, sighing winds to pull enigmatic silver fogs into the fields stained crimson. hooves stamped on celestial plains of creation as a mere whim of thought sparked reality. the satin shroud hung all about the air, sparkling like a dream in greys so monotone and soft. golden antlers dug into the blurred space and he dragged them into the center of the fields, setting a haunted scene that was somehow still mysterious and wonderful. Golden moths flit about the meadow, weaving through the lush trees, creating small sanctuaries of rest and vision in the dense fog. But what was the god upto? keitaro was hard at work, usual smiles and laughter replaced by a hard-lined set of his jaw, occasionally mumbling to himself as traps and creatures popped in and out of existence. but everything had to be perfect, today was his day after all. no matter what was to happen, the other gods could not interfere with his unsettled mind. that thought did leave a trace of fancy on his glossed lips.

when he had the decor set, tricks and traps primed for catching his worshipers, he was ready to create the lure. keitaro let a whoosh of breath part from his lips, a glittering rain that dazzled like a lightning strike amidst thunder clouds before fizzling back into thick and heavy mist that would put hakai to shame. from his very lips was born a white and gold appaloosa doe, soft as sin and gifted with unnatural speed. Behind her stood a buck whos antlers were akin to his own, golden and shining above a snow white pelt. this one was granted strength, seen in his striking hooves and proud tossing of his mighty head. these two seemed to emit a faint glow, able to be seen through the fog faintly. lastly, but most importantly, a rabbit. small and unassuming, the creature was as silver as the very air and shimmered as if in and out of view. to him was granted the gifts of wit and cunning. the three creatures were let loose into the maze of shadow and sunlight, leaving keitaro to bound towards the clear air. it was a wall, as if a massive cloud had been pulled to the earth, almost tangible. He took the form of a wolf now, large and impressive but mortal sized, wanting to level with his competitors before leading them onward to victory or defeat.

"a hunt, for you, young mortals. come and see." carried on a wayward breeze, the words would fall upon the ears of many, and every. soon they would come, and the time for games would be upon them. the first test was of courage, naturally. who would enter the meadows knowing they had to hunt in a nightmare scape. who would he give the prize to? a brilliant and cunning wolf, or simply one of talented skill? only the gods knew... a faint smile tugged at his lips.

She padded through the tall waving grasses of the meadow, the fronds batted at her dark brown pelt as she passed, and her belly growled with hunger that clawed at her stomach. Asceo sniffed the air, hoping to catch a scent-trail that would lead her to some prey, but instead the shifting breeze brought the sound of a god's voice over the sea of grass. "A hunt, for you, young mortals. Come and see," it whispered. Her ears perked up at his voice, memories of the Stardust Festival and the feast flooded her mind. It was the god who so struck her with awe that she couldn't move; the great, ferocious stag whose antler's had dripped with liquid mercury as he branded Satan's tongue. But today, he had taken the form of a massive wolf. Asceo's tail twitched with anticipation. Would Keitaro himself hunt with Doutaini's wolves? Somehow that seemed too simple to her. No doubt this god was up to something.

Asceo gasped as she neared him. Fog swirled around her, dandelions floated ominously in the air, unnaturally suspended by Keitaro's magic. Her paw came down on something soft and round. As she looked down to see what she had stepped on, Asceo recoiled in horror. Birds lay strewn about her feet, littering the ground with small scattered bodies. What kind of sick joke is this? she wondered with a shudder. Her confidence wavered, but she was determined not to show her weakness in front of this great being, even if he probably already knew. His unnatural cosmic eyes seemed to pierce her through the core. Instead she approached him on strong legs, and pausing several wolf-lengths away from him in respect, she lowered her head almost to the ground in humble greeting. She slid to her haunches to wait quietly for others to arrive, who no doubt had also heard his call. One thing was for certain: this hunt was going to be one that she would never forget.

Her paws are light and dainty as she strolls through the meadow, enjoying the long fronds that brush against her legs. She roamed deeper, seeking a nice, serenity walk along the beauty of the hunting grounds. Rarely she entered here, but today was an exception, today felt different. It felt almost special. As if summoned by her thoughts, a loud call carried vibrantly on the wind, touching her ears and drawing her closer to the voice. Words formed in her mind as she registered the message. A hunt?!

On swift paws she hurried to locate the source of the voice, eager and sure in her movements. The voice was on mistake. There was truly other forces at work. A breathless gasp of wonder whisked from her jaws as she arrived, eyeing the surrounding fog and incredible dandelions with wide, wonderful oceanic eyes. But the wonder was quickly melded with surprise and slight confusion; dead birds lay, strain at her feet. Raini dipped her elegant head to sniff at them, before rising again to look the god over in utter fascination. Oh how incredible that she'd been lucky enough to witness this! Another was already here; an Earth girl with a glittering green gem. Raini smiled at her softly, uncertain of her preference when it came to greeting strangers. Still, it appeared they may be aiding each other and numerous others in this hunt, and punctuality had never been a problem for the silver maiden. Dipping her head in respect to Keitaro before them, she paused to look him over, captivated by those cosmic eyes, that incredible hue he seemed to possess, before she slid to the ground and wrapped her fluffy tail neatly about her paws, careful to keep a respectable distance from both. She would wait for others to arrive, excitement bubbling up inside her.

"Don't underestimate anyone around you.
Everyone has the power to surprise anyone at any point of time".

This was new to her. Wandering among the meadows is her debut - not in the pits or among the willows. But under the watch of a God of fortune. Something quite peculiar about the whole ordeal (or at least in Callisto's mind.) Perhaps it was destined for her to be here. Hopefully the rest of her family would join her own soon. Hopefully. The bear slowly moves. Head high as golden eyes survey the whole area. Calculating look as the sound of 'Mortals' rings through her ears. A smile is brought to her lips as she recalls something. /Immortal./ They were trained to be almost invincible. Almost. Perhaps... she'd be the first to survive through it all. But if she didn't? Well. She wouldn't complain. Clearing the thought she eyes a gem around one wolf's neck before moving towards the bare neck wolf. Giving a brief nod and a quick smile before trying to relax and look more ... friendlier among the festival of spring.

/Short post cause just really wanted to get her here!

It feels like ages since she has last left her den, and Divine, as a whole. In actuality it honestly has been three months since the alabaster beast has left the sanctuary of the coves, and meadow, belonging to the goddess Hotaru. She is a new mother, and felt anxious when leaving her two daughters alone in the den. Makenna has lived off of the small, to medium, prey that calls the meadows of Divine their home. Now that Miya, and Llian, are three months old the new mother feels comfortable leaving them at the pearl shores by themselves. After all how much trouble could they honestly get themselves into at home? Makenna trusts those in Divine with her daughter's lives.

Finally comfortable with leaving she has her mind set on bigger game today. One can only live off of meager sized meals for so long. Her stomach aches with hunger, and her very bones burn with a need to gorge herself on something rich, and hearty. On her way to the Fields a voice touches her ears. Beckoning to her, calling her and many others forth to the Crimson Meadows. Paws hesitate for a moment, and the ivory woman directs her path, and sets a new destination to a place she has never been before.

Soon the alabaster vixen is greeted with the wondrous sights of Keitaro's magic. Seas of red wine drink in the shroud of mist, and the way that the dandelions lazily dance in the atmosphere. She is taken back by the beautiful wolf, massive in size and raw strength, perched in front of the veil of mist. Once before Makenna had encountered the goddess Hotaru. The immortals of Doutaini are vastly different than their children in appearance. Could this be one of them? Surely it must due to the sheer size of the wolf alone. No one of mortal means is that big. Like Raini, Makenna dips her head in a show of respect for the god of the hunt. She offers no words, and settles for silence. Wishing to just admire the god.

With a roll of his shoulders, he arrives precisely when he means to, and with a cheshire wide grin, he slides his dark and oil-slick frame around a particularly delicate flower, plucking it from the meadow to hold it between his teeth, but briefly, before his sigh;tless gaze drifts to Asceo and Raini, and he moves towards Asceo ti tuck the flower delicately behind her ear,"Be a dear and hold this for me," he gives her a wink, "The garden needs more." The eye garden, he meant, for he was certain that if Dax saw her garden back to life-- with all she could have in it-- then her heart would lift and perhaps some of the depression would leave her.

Said and done, he would dare not miss a chance to join in the hunt of the gods, and even as a momentary afterthought, he calls out to those in his own pack who may wish to join him today-- and Dax as well, for she could now learn of HOW these things went, how they worked.

This fog was nothing to him-- after all, fog was but a construct of something he could not see, and while the moisture of the air dampened the sound slightly, it also sharpened the immediate world around him, and he could make out the bodies of those near-- and perhaps farther than one would hope. Who'd have ever thought that blindness would be a blessing?

"A hunt. Glad I bought my extra energy today." Perhaps Svana would see fit to join them--after all, he had a bone to pick with her. (In jest, of course, as their event with teams had pitted them against each other, and how fun it was!)

It was the call of the God that she heard first, lingering in the air as if he surrounded her in the darkness of the Caverns. Ears would twitch briefly as haunting eyes glanced around for the source, and yet she realized she was still alone. Always alone. Shortly after, however, she could feel Mercury calling for her, and she only lingered for a moment before the raven made her way towards him. Before long she was out of the caverns and into the open land, making her way towards the Meadows as if it was something she did every day. As she drew closer, she could see the wall that had appeared there, full of fog and nightmares she could only assume, while on the other side it was as clear as day.

Now, this would be interesting. Moving towards the others, her attention lingered from one wolf to the other before her gaze fell upon Mercury. Silently, or as silent as she could muster in the fields, she made her way towards Mercury, moving up alongside him and only briefly did she allow her side to press against his before she would step away to gaze at the others gathered. A hunt, hmm? And how exactly would this work, did they all way together, or was it pack versus pack? This was her first time doing anything of the sort, so only time could tell.

BE READY WHEN SHE FINDS YOU;
She'd already been in the meadows, a fact that was both unfortunate and gifting, especially as from the sidelines she watched silently as Keitaro descended from above and busied himself not too far away from her. Curiously she had edged forwards, as the birds came down and the fog rolled in, as the day darkened in some places, it brought a lingering intrigue to those emerald eyes. The call struck far and wide and she knew that he was calling to the wolves of Doutaini to participate in whatever it was, he had created for them. A game? A hunt? She realizes in her spectating that he is setting up a maze of sorts, using the elements (of course), to create a mind field. A doe, a buck and a rabbit jump out of existence, ethereal, beautiful, her mouth salivates just thinking about them, about their flesh and what lingers further. It is now, she realizes what he is up to, realizes that others have come, and in her enchantment she had wandered even closer. Her muzzle dips skyward and she calls for Rykerri, the only other wolf in Rebel she knew would want to participate, even though the dark beast was quite capable of holding up Rebels' side on her own, she wanted the auburn queen here.
She presses forwards, long legs as graceful as the doe, and her speed would be just as close. She is, interested. To say the least. Eyes watch Him as she moves towards the crowd of Doutainian wolves, he is a mere wolf now, though one could see he was not of this world, and though she does not give him the pleasure of power, she nods all the same. It is the Divine wolf she sees first, a stranger apart from that golden pendant that swings by her neck, and Charlotte attempts a smile that was meant to be friendly, but instead it turns dangerous, a smirk that is sadistic in twist and quality. It is not intentional, and quickly she looks away and her large ears press to her skull in disappointment (for herself), and she wonders if Lypso'ru will make an appearance, little does she know that her niece has recently lost a litter though, and now raises a child. She shakes her head, emerald eyes landing on Mercury next, and instantly her mood picks up a little. Her smirk curls even further, her head lowered as she stalks towards him. "Oh no, not you," she purrs, words dripping with sarcasm as she closes the gap and all but walks straight into him, curving her bodice against his own as she comes to stand beside him, height for height, speed for speed, she chuckles flirtatiously; "shall we team up?" and though he is blind she glances sideways at him, her ears flicked forwards to catch anything he might have to say. "That doe is built for speed..." and a growl gurgles in her throat, "and she's ours." any who glanced at her now she'd coax over with a flick of her tail, a roll of her shoulders, a flash of flame behind those eyes; see it a claim. And slowly do her eyes turn to Keitaro, expectantly.

Arrives, greets Keitaro, and Makenna (awkwardly lol)- calls Rykerri and then moves over to Mercury and tells him they should team up to take down the Doe. <3

Hunting was his specialty.

And with the gift of Rebel powers, this would be even easier.

He sees Charlotte in no time, and he makes his way over to her with a confident stride. The hunter-man would appear beside her, eyes slightly narrowed as senses would come in to use. It is a great help, but he is cautious not to overestimate his skill. Confidence can quickly turn to arrogance, and that is not what Claymore is. Trio? he didn't know the male Charlotte wanted to team up with was blind, but nonetheless he would know soon, and it would affect his opinion little. He trusted Charlotte to make good decisions.

A clarion call—the voice of Keitaro brush against his ears with all the authority to summon the young king forward, dashed with the coveted hope to rise a champion once more. As a teen, Keston had won his division in Jiro’s tournament of champions and he wonders if his luck will favor him again in front of Keitaro. While victory was of little consequence to the Lioncourt man, he knew what honor it would bring to Kei for the winning team to consist of a member (or perhaps two) from her pack—it would be a testament that Water thrived under this new era of rebirth, foreseeing the future in favorable light. The idea brings a smile to his features as the silver fog first touches his golden fur, and while the seafaring knight gleams with cerulean eyes, he seems paltry compared to the god at the head of the hunt and his conjured lures of white and gold. They glow faintly, leaving a halo around their form through the curtain of mist as he look on at them, studying them each with care. A doe of splattered tones, built to be quick and nimble; a stag of ivory with a golden rack, menacing with his pounding hooves; and a quick-footed rabbit, who Keston expected packed more surprises than they all could imagine.

Eventually, his gaze would falter towards the gathered crowd, watching as the man from Enigma aimed to place a flower so precisely behind the ear of Asceo. Tropical eyes would narrow slightly in response, nostrils flaring amid the mixture of scents before even steps would draw him forward. Keston had not seen Asceo since Kaiyo had called them together, yet his thoughts had often returned to her in the ensuing weeks. “Asceo, how are you?” He inquires with a blushing smile, recalling their last encounter. Alert of his surroundings, he would await her response before his attention falls towards Raini. Delighted to find another member of Water present, he hopes the bridge the distance between them. Having not had a chance since he became alpha to meet with her, he had hoped to share the news of a promotion—a what better scene than a hunt hosted by Keitaro? “As Water’s hunter, I am sure you will bring us all pride and triumph.” Keston remarks kindly with a grin in hopes the appointment would be received well, before his gaze pitches between Asceo and Raini with a questioning tone. “The three of us for a team?” He suggests, though he would not object to a fourth or fifth member as his attention falls towards the rogue woman and the lady of Divine.
keston enters, greets asceo, greets raini and promotes her to water hunter, suggests a team of Asceo, Raini, and Keston, silently inquires towards Callisto and Makenna if they wanted to join the team

If we only die once, I wanna die with you, The sky shakes and rattles and roars with all the fierce bravado of a summer storm--violent and limitless in its potential for destruction. A coward might have shivered beneath such a squall as cowards do in the face of their fears, but the red silhouette stalking into the meadow was unafraid. A wild smile split the dark lips, reflecting the haphazard race of her heart and the sharp edge of mischief glinting in her eye ( toothed oceans waiting to bite ). The cloudless storm crackling overhead pulls her to the center of the meadow, long grasses bobbing in her wake, drawing her forward like a moth to the flame. Storms were her lifeblood, her calling, and there could only be one reason for the magic snapping and snarling at the roof of heaven: gods. The very idea thrilled the wild-haired woman and it showed in the prickle of fur standing at half-attention in a spray of red down her spine. Gooseflesh tremored over her skin and each breath came in shallow, excited gasps. Each prowling step finds the Vighente woman more feral than the last until she is undone at the seams; free at last. The Svana that steps into the crowd is virtually unrecognizable to those who might know her. The ruddy curls stand on end as eager growls rumble from deep within her chest, her body supple as it aims slides against Claymore's open side. She dances away from him and the gathering crowd of hunters, Mercury among them, to slip to the side of the festivities, her eyes settling on the pair of divine-made deer with an unsettling hunger.

Other wolves began to gather, several of them unfamiliar to her, sporting stone emblems that represented their pack. She-wolves from Enigma, Storm, and Divine had shown, as well as two strong-looking Rebel wolves who bore no god-given gems. Even a couple of rogue she-wolves who had no identifying pack-scent had appeared. Among those she did recognize walked Mercury, the smoky wolf whose muzzle was hideously torn to reveal a long row of glinting teeth, and to her immense delight, Keston, the Water pack's alpha. Her pleasure was mirrored in his eyes and genuine smile as he quickly approached her. "Asceo, how are you?"

Without waiting for his permission, she stepped forward in one eager stride to brush her cheek against his in warm greeting. "I am doing wonderful," she replied. Looking down at her belly, which had been lean only a half-moon ago, was now softer and rounder than when they had last met. "Perhaps a little too wonderful. If I keep eating the way I have been, I'll have to start sitting on them to catch them," she laughed warmly, though her weight gain had begun to concern her. For some reason, she had been ravenously hungry as of late. Asceo suspected that she was just regaining her strength from the stomach sickness that gripped her several sunrises ago, but something else was bothering her, and she didn't understand it. It was instinct that told her it wasn't just a regular sickness, but she could not figure out what her gut was trying to tell her.

Keston looked toward a graceful pale gray she-wolf, and Asceo's fur prickled. She was gorgeous; long-limbed with attractively soft fur, a fluffy tail, and eyes like deep, clear pools of blue. With a nervous glance at Keston the only betrayal of her jealously, Asceo sat beside Keston and politely nodded her head to the she-wolf in greeting. She never did discover if the night they spent together had meant something to him, if that meant they were more than just friendly towards one another. Asceo had certainly felt something for him, unfamiliar and foreign, but pleasingly so. Part of her shied away from it, but Kaiyo's magic had influenced much more than their first and only meeting. It was the first time she had seen him since they had met, but they weren't about to be alone together.

Keston addressed the she-wolf, "As Water's hunter," Asceo's dismay grew as she realized that the she-wolf was ranked, "I am sure you will bring us all pride and triumph."

I shouldn't be disappointed, she told herself. He was the alpha of the Water pack. Of course he would have any number of suitors lined up to bear his children, and the odds that Asceo, another pack's nobody, would have a chance with him? This is why I can't fall for anyone, she thought bitterly. Her tail would have drooped if she were standing. Asceo felt more self-conscious of her rounded belly, her plain brown coat, and simple yellow eyes. With an inward sigh, she resigned herself to her fate. I should have known. I should have known.

"The three of us for a team?" Keston suggested, looking between Asceo and the other she-wolf.

Her throat tightened as she glanced at her, but she replied steadily, "I'm game if you are." She rested her gaze on their teammate, "I am Asceo. May I have your name?"

Asceo tried to lift her soured mood. It would do no wolf any good if she were moping throughout the tournament. At least she would be hunting with Keston on her team. It was unexpected, and she brightened a bit at the thought. Asceo resolved to prove her value to Keston rather than sit idly by while his packmate did the same. She would certainly not sabotage the other female; they were a team whether she liked it or not, and she was here to win the tournament, or at least to bring down some game for the thrill of it. They would need to work together.

She just hoped it wouldn't be the last time that she got to run side-by-side with Keston, the only wolf she had ever truly cared about.

for Keston Raini. 718 words. "speech".

notes: Don't mind Asceo, she's just moody because she's pregnant (and has no idea!). She returns Keston's greeting. After a lot of internal thought, introduces herself to Raini and asks for her name, as well as agrees to being in a team together. Can't wait to get this thing started!

He strolls into the Crimson Meadows with a predatory delight. His fire and ice eyes ever wandering as he comes upon the crowd, though his eyes somehow always stray back to Keitaro. How did some deny the Gods, he had seen five since his birth here. He is glorious even in his wolf form, this time he perhaps sought to have some fun instead of cursing them. His warm words echo in his ears as he finds Asceo he would offer her a smile and a brush of his shoulder as he moved past her to find Svana's side. He would follow her gaze up to the deer standing so close but so far away. He growls lightly, perhaps maybe she wished to hunt alone, but Briar was curious to see what his ally could do. What Storm could do. "How 'bout we see how well the Storm agrees with the Earth?", his voice is playful, mischievous as his hairs stand on end. We don't just heal things. His tail wavers gently as he turns back to view the crowd, wondering who the competition might be.

Speaks mainly to Svana, offers to partner up.

Briar's tail was broken and it hangs limp two inches from the tip.
